The drug Azaraqi consists of dried seeds of Strychnos nux vomica L. (Loganiaceae); the tree is found in tropical India upto 1200 m rarely in Bengal, common in Tamil Nadu and Tenasserium region of Burma. The flowering and fruiting occurs from February to April.
Temperament: Hot 3°, Dry 3°

Theraputic Use(s): Hemiplegia(Falij), Facial palsy(Laqwa), Polyarthritis(Waja-ul-Mafasil), Low Backache(Waja-ul-Qatan), Bronchial asthma(Zeeq-un-Nafas), Pthisis(Sil), Gonorrhoea(Suzak)
Dose: 60 - 250 mg.
