The drug Bakayin is the dried mature stem bark of Media azedarach L. (Meliaccae); a medium sized tree upto 12 metre high, often planted in gardens is found throughout India
Temperament: Hot, Dry20
Action(s): Blood purifier (Musaffi-e-Dam), Resolvent of swelling/Anti-inflammatory (Muhallil-e-Waram), Calming agent (Musakkin-e-Aam). Anthelmintic (Daf-e-Kirm-e-Ama), Antipyretic (Dafi-e-Humma), Astringent (Qabiz), Carminative (Kasir-c-Riyah)
Theraputic Use(s): Leprosy (Juzam), Vitiligo (Bars), Sciatica (Irq-un-Nasa), Flatulence (Nafkh-e-Shikam)
Dose: 5-10 g.
